Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Veterinary Technician/Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide compassionate animal care by assisting the veterinarian during exams and procedures, educating clients, maintaining hospital cleanliness, and ensuring efficient daily operations. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
This position will require some weekend shifts.
Pay will be based of experience and any license/degree held
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures
- Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and staff during examinations and treatments.
- Conduct laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures
- Maintain detailed medical records, documenting treatments, procedures, and patient progress with precision.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians while monitoring patient responses.
- Assist in pet care activities such as grooming and boarding.
- Take radiographs and assist with dental procedures using dental terminology to ensure thorough dental health assessments.
- Manage animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring both hospitalized and boarding pets.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment
Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to safely lift and restrain animals up to 50 pounds (with assistance for larger patients).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
- Basic computer skills.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Previous veterinary experience.
- Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology.
- Experience with veterinary software and laboratory equipment.
Pay: $12.00 - $25.00 per hour
