As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and passionate Ophthalmic Technician and Scribe to join our team.
Position Overview: We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Ophthalmic Technician to assist our ophthalmologists in providing high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will be intelligent, pay attention to details, possess excellent interpersonal skills (communicate with patients and other team members), and be committed to maintaining the highest standard of patient care and safety.
- Perform preliminary eye examinations, including visual acuity and tonometry
- Administer and record relevant patient history and medication information
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual field testing, OCT scans, and corneal topography
- Prepare patients for procedures and assist ophthalmologists during examinations
- Educate patients on eye care procedures, medications, and post-operative instructions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMRs)
- Clean and maintain ophthalmic equipment and instruments
- Assist with patient scheduling and managing clinic flow
- Ensure compliance with all HIPAA and other relevant medical regulations
- Collaborate effectively with the medical team to provide a seamless patient experience
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification is a plus but not necessary
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
- A compassionate and patient-centered approach to patient care
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures
