The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District), a leader in protecting Florida's water resources, is seeking an Engineer in support of the Surface Water Improvement and Management (SWIM) Program. This position will work on a wide variety of projects related to natural systems restoration and water quality improvements in a planned effort to restore our most valuable natural resources. The successful candidate will perform project management and technical duties including contract management, negotiations, construction administration, hydraulic/hydrologic model review, stormwater retrofit design, plans and specifications review, working with stakeholders, project tracking, preparing budgets, and cost tracking.

The starting salary ranges are included for the Engineer profile which reflects the minimum to approximately 50% of the respective pay grades. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.
- Conducts technical review of studies, engineering designs, hydrologic & hydraulic (H&H) models, and construction documents supporting natural systems restoration and water quality improvement projects.
- Manages SWIM District Initiatives, ensuring alignment with project objectives, District priorities, and compliance with District procedures and policies.
- Negotiates scopes of work and associated professional service fees with consultants and partners.
- Leads project and technical presentations to internal teams, governing bodies, and external stakeholders
- Provides technical guidance, mentorship, and engineering practice support to staff engineers and scientists.

Professional Engineer:
- Bachelors degree (or higher) in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
- Four (4) years related work experience
- Valid Florida Professional Engineer license
- Valid driver's license
Senior Professional Engineer:
- Bachelors degree (or higher) in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
- Five (5) years related work experience
- Valid Florida Professional Engineer license
- Valid driver's license
Senior Professional Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related engineering field
- Seven (7) years related work experience
- Valid Florida Professional Engineer license

- Masters or better in civil, construction, environmental engineering, or related field.
- Project Management Information System experience
- Water quality project experience

The District will determine eligibility for employment solely from the information provided on a District employment application. This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, out of the Tampa, FL office. Remote work opportunities may be available up to 4 days per week. This position is eligible for compensatory time for hours worked over 40 hours, in a week.
