Position Overview:
JPK & Associates is seeking a dependable, organized Material Handler / Forklift Operator to support our manufacturing and warehouse operations.
This position is responsible for receiving, organizing, staging, and moving sheet goods and finished products throughout our facility. A major responsibility of this role will be maintaining an organized inventory of melamine, plywood, MDF, laminated panels, and other sheet materials so the correct materials can be quickly identified, staged, and delivered to our CNC department in the proper order.
The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in organization, works safely around valuable materials and finished cabinetry, and understands that keeping production supplied and materials properly stored is critical to the efficiency of the entire manufacturing operation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Operate a forklift to safely move sheet goods, pallets, cabinetry, and other materials throughout the facility.
- Load and unload deliveries of plywood, MDF, melamine, laminate panels, and other manufacturing materials.
- Place incoming sheet goods and pallets into designated warehouse and pallet-racking locations.
- Organize and maintain sheet-goods inventory by material type, thickness, finish, color, project, or designated storage location.
- Maintain responsibility for keeping sheet materials properly stacked, labeled, accessible, and in the correct order for upcoming production requirements.
- Stage the correct panels and sheet materials for the CNC department based on the production schedule.
- Assist with loading panels onto or into the CNC material-processing area.
- Remove and relocate unused or excess material following production runs.
- Maintain accurate separation of materials belonging to different projects to prevent incorrect materials from entering production.
- Operate forklifts to move pallets of completed cabinetry and millwork into finished-goods storage areas.
- Organize finished cabinetry by project and shipment sequence so materials can be efficiently loaded for delivery.
- Assist with loading trucks and preparing completed projects for shipment.
- Unload vendor deliveries and verify materials are placed in the appropriate receiving or storage areas.
- Identify damaged materials, incorrect deliveries, shortages, or inventory discrepancies and report them to the appropriate supervisor.
- Keep warehouse aisles, sheet-goods storage areas, CNC staging areas, and finished-goods storage clean and organized.
- Maintain safe stacking heights and proper material-storage practices.
- Assist the production team with material movement and other warehouse-related needs throughout the day.
- Perform routine forklift inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Follow all company safety procedures when operating forklifts and handling large or heavy materials.
- Assist with periodic physical inventory counts and material reconciliation.
- Help continually improve warehouse layout, material flow, organization, and production efficiency.
What We Are Looking For:
- Previous forklift experience strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, woodworking, cabinetry, construction-material, or industrial environment is preferred.
- Experience handling plywood, MDF, melamine, laminate, lumber, or other sheet goods is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately identify and separate different materials, colors, thicknesses, and project-specific products.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of assigned warehouse and material-storage areas.
- Ability to prioritize material movement based on production needs.
- Ability to work safely around expensive finished cabinetry and specialty materials.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Willingness to assist wherever needed in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with CNC operators, production employees, warehouse personnel, and management.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical warehouse work throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely lift and handle materials weighing approximately 50 lbs. when required.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
- Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment after appropriate training and authorization.
Why This Position Matters
This role is a critical part of our production process. Our CNC department and manufacturing team rely on having the correct material, in the correct location, in the correct order, at the correct time.
The person in this position will have significant ownership over the organization and movement of material throughout the facility. A well-organized material-handling operation allows our production employees to spend their time manufacturing instead of searching for, moving, or reorganizing materials.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in creating that level of organization and efficiency.
