WHAT YOU’LL DO
You will run residential service calls throughout the Chicagoland area and take responsibility for the customer experience from diagnosis through completion.
Responsibilities include:
- Diagnosing garage door and opener problems
- Repairing and replacing torsion and extension spring systems
- Replacing cables, rollers, hinges, bearings, drums, tracks, and related hardware
- Troubleshooting LiftMaster and other garage door operators
- Installing garage door openers and accessories
- Performing garage door installations when needed
- Performing maintenance and comprehensive safety inspections
- Identifying safety concerns and potential system failures
- Presenting repair and replacement options clearly to homeowners
- Helping customers understand the differences between available solutions
- Completing accurate job documentation in ServiceTitan
- Collecting payment at completion of service
- Maintaining an organized and properly stocked company vehicle
- Maintaining company tools and equipment
- Following company safety and customer-service procedures
Our technicians are expected to be professionals in the customer's home. Technical ability matters, but so do communication, cleanliness, honesty, and workmanship.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We want an experienced technician who:
- Has professional garage door service and repair experience
- Understands torsion and extension spring systems
- Can diagnose door balance, track, cable, roller, and hardware problems
- Has experience troubleshooting garage door operators
- Can work independently without constant supervision
- Communicates confidently and professionally with homeowners
- Can explain repair options without using high-pressure sales tactics
- Takes pride in clean, complete workmanship
- Understands that the job is not finished until the customer and the system are taken care of
- Is comfortable with performance expectations and accountability
- Wants an opportunity to increase earnings as skills and performance increase
WHAT YOU NEED
- Previous garage door service experience
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to safely work with torsion spring systems
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Ability to lift 65+ lbs.
- Comfortable working on ladders
- Ability to work in Chicago weather conditions, including hot summers and cold garages
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Professional appearance and attitude
