General Description:
This individual will play a key role in developing and shaping a position for possible future years if successful while supporting senior students and offering post-graduation assistance. The coordinator will design and initiate programs aimed at preparing students for college, careers, and life after high school, and will work closely with students, families, and staff at multiple locations.
This position offers the opportunity to design, grow, and expand a new role within Berrien Springs Public Schools. The coordinator will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of the College and Career Readiness program. Flexibility, initiative, and collaboration are key in ensuring student success across multiple sites. Specific deliverables will be designed with input from this position, but are likely to include:
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Counseling or school-related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in college or career counseling, or related areas.
- Familiarity with post-graduation programs, FAFSA, and professional materials/skills preparation.
- Experience working with at-risk student populations, preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
- Ability to function effectively as a member of a team both in-person or virtually.
- Ability to build rapport with students, families, and educational partners.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Program Development & Coordination:
- Lead the creation and implementation of programs for senior students, such as Senior Night, field trips to colleges and career programs, and graduation support at multiple sites.
- Develop and coordinate career exploration and preparation activities into academic pathways.
- Promote the development of student interviews, resume preparation, and post-graduation planning.
- Provide ongoing FAFSA support and guidance for staff, students and families.
- Develop senior work portfolios and/or tracking systems for graduates, ensuring smooth post-graduation transitions.
Post-Graduation Support:
- Build connections with local community colleges, career programs, military options and job placement services to support graduates.
- Track the progress of graduates and offer ongoing guidance as needed.
- Assist with the placement of students in post-graduation programs or careers.
Family and Student Engagement:
- Engage families and students to offer guidance on college and career options, financial aid, and post-graduation goals.
- Foster strong relationships with students and their families to ensure they feel supported throughout the graduation process.
Collaboration with Organization:
- Support regional and center leadership to provide additional CCR support where needed.
- Actively participate in graduation ceremonies, both in planning and execution under the direction of the Director, across multiple off-site divisions.
- Ensure students are provided the opportunity to access the supports and services related to their postsecondary goals, as outlined in their educational development plan (EDP).

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
