Overview:
Tri-Chem Industries, a specialty chemical blending manufacturer, seeks a motivated Entry-Level Chemist to support lab QC, documentation, and regulatory compliance while learning under our Staff Chemist. This is a growth role for someone eager to build a career in chemical manufacturing. As a small company, we wear multiple hats—adaptability and teamwork are essential.
Job Summary:
Performs lab chemistry tests, process checks, and audits while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting regulatory compliance. Works closely with the Staff Chemist to develop technical and quality-management skills.
Essential Functions:
- Perform QC analysis using lab equipment such as pH, specific gravity, viscosity, refractive index, and titrations.
- Maintain accurate records and logs of tests, audits, and quality procedures.
- Support document control for quality management, including SOPs, SDSs, COAs, and HACCP records.
- Assist with regulatory compliance documentation and recordkeeping.
- Make and test lab samples for product evaluation; package and ship samples for client review.
- Assist with inbound and outbound chemical and packaging QC.
- Calibrate and maintain testing equipment for accuracy and reliability.
- Maintain lab supplies and equipment.
- Interact with plant personnel to communicate quality, safety, and regulatory information.
- Follow all lab safety, GMP, and company policies.
- Learn and take on additional responsibilities under Staff Chemist mentorship.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry required.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience; internships and coursework count.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and recordkeeping.
- Understanding of, or strong willingness to learn, chemical safety and regulatory concepts.
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets.
- Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing (emails, corrective actions, team meetings).
- Basic math skills (weight, volume, distance) for production paperwork.
- Ability to work in a team and independently.
- Adaptable and open to learning across multiple areas of the business.
- Ability to wear PPE and work outside in the elements at the shipping dock.
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
