We are looking for an experienced Sterile Processing professional who is passionate about sharing their knowledge and helping others build successful healthcare careers.
As a Sterile Processing Instructor, you will teach both classroom and hands-on laboratory courses designed to prepare students for entry-level careers and professional certification in sterile processing. You will bring your real-world experience into the classroom while helping students develop the technical skills, confidence, and professional knowledge they need to succeed.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Sterile Processing Technician, Lead, Supervisor, or other industry professional who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and developing others.
What You'll Do
- Teach classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction in sterile processing.
- Educate students on decontamination, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, surgical instrumentation, infection prevention, and related practices.
- Demonstrate proper handling, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical devices.
- Evaluate student knowledge and skills through exams, assignments, skills assessments, and practical demonstrations.
- Provide students with meaningful feedback, coaching, and support.
- Maintain a professional, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Prepare and update instructional materials to reflect current industry practices and certification requirements.
- Use Canvas or another Learning Management System to manage course materials, grades, attendance, and student communication.
- Maintain accurate student records and required documentation.
- Communicate with faculty and administration regarding student progress and program needs.
- Participate in program development and continuous improvement activities.
- Follow school policies and applicable accreditation and program requirements.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Current or recent professional experience in sterile processing.
- Current sterile processing certification such as CRCST or equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge of surgical instrumentation, decontamination, sterilization, infection prevention, and healthcare safety practices.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and work effectively with adult learners.
- Basic computer proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching, training, precepting, or mentoring experience.
- Experience working in a hospital or healthcare facility.
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a Sterile Processing Department.
- Experience in vocational education, higher education, or healthcare training.
- Experience using Canvas or another Learning Management System.
Teaching experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to consider experienced sterile processing professionals who are excited about teaching and mentoring the next generation of Sterile Processing Technicians.
Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
