Job Description: Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC)
Reports to: Executive Director
Job Classification: Full Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Purpose:
Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) serves as a representative of Creative Supports, Inc. to customers, their families, and the public. The structure, culture, core values and policies of Creative Supports, Inc. as established by the Executive Director, will be followed as we create an environment where the customers served feel valued and heard, and where our community sees the benefits of Creative Supports, Inc.’s mission:
To support people with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities and their families to create and direct their own services in an atmosphere of dignity and respect.
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in behavioral science, social science, or a closely related field; -OR-
- A bachelor’s degree in any field and at least one (1) year of human services related experience; -OR-
- An associate degree in behavioral science, social science, or a closely related field and two (2) years of human services related experience; -OR-
- Three (3) years of human services related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Commitment to self-determination and personalized support.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) field and of family dynamics.
- Experience working directly with people with I/DD.
- Able to develop trust and rapport through in-person meetings and contacts with customers, staff and stakeholders.
- Able to communicate clearly and respectfully with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, families, service providers and the general public.
- Demonstrated strong writing skills.
- Able to remain calm when clients become anxious or experience challenging behavior.
- Able to maintain confidential information.
- Able to maintain accurate and complete records.
- Experience in planning events.
- Able and willing to work evening or weekend hours, as needed.
- Able to work under stress and able to multitask.
- Able to manage time independently and work without direct supervision.
- Able to pass a Criminal History Check, meeting the State’s requirements.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and maintenance of a good driving record.
- Willing to travel as needed, throughout the state and out of state as needed.
- Able to lift 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Knowledge and ability to work in various software programs and digital systems.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Essential Functions:
The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the satisfactory completion of each essential function. Other tasks may be assigned.
General – 100% of the work incorporates these elements

- Consistently attend regularly scheduled meetings, while being prompt and prepared.

- Providers support to the Executive Director: Provide the Executive Director with information, technical assistance, and support to facilitate informed decision-making and active participation.
- Meets regularly with the Executive Director and/or Administrative Team to review: needs, goals, budgets, systems and procedures.
- Brings well-developed recommendations to the Executive Director for consideration and approval.
American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) – approximately 50% of the workload
Emergency Supports:
o Coordinate’s emergency response and emergency communication efforts.
o Fosters relationships with local first response agencies.
o Oversees emergency preparedness efforts.
o Manages emergency supply funds from the state, including processing customer requests and distribution of supplies.
o Other ARPA Grants as applicable.
Diversity Equity and Inclusion:
o Sits on the DEI Committee and helps craft and implement the Service Equity Plan.
o Ensures CSI events are inclusive and accessible to the greatest extent possible.
o Works to improve the accessibility and equity of CSI services and communications.
o Seeks to increase awareness of CSI’s services in diverse and underserved populations, including accessible marketing efforts and materials.
Communications & Marketing - approximately 15% of the workload
- Coordinate’s marketing and choice advising events.
- Ensures all needed supplies and equipment are up to date, available and on hand for events.
- Ensures all CSI generated content is approved by the Executive Director, or Administrative Team in their absence, before publication.
- Manages all CSI social media accounts.
o Ensures CSI maintains an active presence on social media with a focus on:
▪ local events for customers,
▪ IDD advocacy and awareness, and
▪ celebrating the successes of CSI and CSI customers.
- Coordinates and drafts the production of a minimum of four (4) customer focused CSI Newsletters per year, with a preference for one (1) per season.
- Manages CSI mass emailing and maintains email address lists.
- Oversees bulk mailing efforts.
Customer Events – approximately 15% of the workload
- Takes responsibility for the smooth and efficient operation of events.
- Seeks input from customers and staff on what events are needed and desired.
- Plans and coordinates a minimum of two (2) events per year that are accessible by all communities, with a focus on:
o Customer appreciation (i.e. annual summer BBQs)
o Customer connection and fun
o Customer education
o Community engagement and education
- Brings proposals for events with a target audience and goal clearly defined, including a rough projection of costs:
o Develops and proposes budgets for approved events,
o Works within the established budgets, and
o Accurately reports expenditures.
- Communicates regularly and keeps staff informed and engaged in coming events.
- Generates marketing materials.
Provider Agencies - approximately 5% of the workload
- Communicates and works with other agencies to improve billing, documentation, and overall communication as needed.
- Provides advice and general information to new agencies starting up.
- Works with existing providers to expand service offerings to meet identified service needs.
Other tasks that may be assigned, include but are not limited to:
- Completes Quality Assurance tasks,
- Arranges for fundraising activities, and
- Assists in coordinating agency events & team building.
Work Environment:
- The base location and office space is in the Medford CSI office, but will travel to satellite office.
- Office setting includes typical office noise, activity and light levels.
- Office space is typically shared with at least one coworker.
- Work hours may include evenings and/or weekends.
- Regular travel to other community settings will be required.
- Exposure to weather conditions throughout all four seasons.
- Will need to transport laptop and other work-related materials.
Pay: From $26.83 per hour
