Job Summary
The Home Health Aide plays a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized care to individuals in their homes or assisted living facilities. This position involves assisting clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety, and promoting their overall well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving and a passion for helping others, particularly seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and report any changes to healthcare professionals.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment.
- Assist with meal preparation, cooking, and dietary needs while considering any restrictions.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems for accurate medical documentation and record-keeping.
- Support clients with mobility challenges using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Provide specialized care for clients with conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or developmental disabilities.
- Follow HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Skills
- Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in health status or behavior.
- Experience in assisted living or nursing home settings is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and documentation practices.
- CPR certification is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of catheter care and hospice care practices is beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or special needs.
- Experience in home & community care settings is an asset.
- Proficiency in cleaning tasks and maintaining a hygienic environment for clients.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
