Position Summary
The Digital Press Operator sets up, operates, and maintains wide-format digital printing equipment, including EFI Q3r, Canon X2, Nozomi, and other large-format printers. This role is responsible for producing accurate, high-quality print jobs while meeting production deadlines and company standards.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor wide-format digital printing equipment, including EFI Q3r, Canon X2, Nozomi, and other roll-to-roll, flatbed, and hybrid presses.
- Review job tickets, artwork, materials, and production requirements before printing.
- Load substrates and properly set up equipment for each job.
- Monitor print quality, color consistency, registration, and production accuracy.
- Calibrate printers and RIP software and use color measurement tools as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, nozzle checks, and basic troubleshooting.
- Track production time, material usage, and waste using PACE ERP or designated software.
- Follow all safety procedures and properly use required PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area following Lean and 5S practices.
- Work with Prepress, Finishing, and Production teams to complete jobs accurately and on time.
- Assist with fulfillment, assembly, finishing, facility organization, and other production duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Digital printing or wide-format production experience.
- Experience with EFI, Canon, Nozomi, HP, Vanguard, AGFA, SwissQprint, Mimaki, or similar equipment.
- Strong mechanical, troubleshooting, computer, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to stand for 8–10 hours and lift 5–50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a loud shop environment and overtime when needed.
- Positive attitude, dependable, team-oriented, and willing to learn.
- Lead experience is a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with PACE ERP or similar systems.
- Knowledge of Lean, 5S, ISO 9001, ICC profiling, color calibration, and Pantone matching.
- Understanding of print-ready files, bleed, resolution, and vector formats.
- Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop experience.
