Title: Refrigeration Utilities Technician
Location: Owasso, OK
Shift: 1st and 2nd available
Pay: $23.00–$30.00 per hour
Position Summary
The Refrigeration Utilities Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial refrigeration, boiler, and utility systems within a manufacturing facility. This position helps ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company, regulatory, and safety standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Install, maintain, inspect, and repair refrigeration and boiler systems and related equipment.
*
Troubleshoot mechanical and refrigeration issues using schematics, equipment readings, and visual inspections.
*
Monitor refrigeration temperatures and verify equipment is operating within required specifications.
*
Perform daily inspections and document readings for high- and low-pressure boilers.
*
Complete preventative maintenance (PM) using SOPs, LOTO procedures, and CMMS work orders.
*
Inspect refrigeration equipment and utilities to identify potential issues before equipment failure occurs.
*
Assist with Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements, inspections, and audits.
*
Help identify and correct safety or compliance issues.
*
Perform preventative maintenance and general facility repairs, including refrigeration systems, doors, lighting, dock equipment, grounds, and other plant equipment.
*
Participate in internal and external audits as needed.
*
Assist with special maintenance projects and other duties as assigned.
*
Communicate effectively with maintenance leadership and production supervisors regarding equipment operation and repairs.
Qualifications
*
High school diploma or GED required.
*
Technical training, certification, or education in HVAC, refrigeration, or industrial maintenance is preferred.
*
At least 1 year of experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, refrigeration, or a related environment preferred.
*
RETA Level 1 & 2 and/or Ammonia Operator certifications preferred; candidates willing to complete required training may be considered.

Knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia, glycol, and Freon systems.
*
Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
*
Understanding of refrigeration safety, food safety, and environmental regulations.
*
Basic computer skills and familiarity with Windows-based programs and CMMS systems.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
*
Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
*
Must be comfortable working in cold/refrigerated environments.
*
Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly regulated manufacturing environment.
*
Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
*
Spanish language skills are a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
*
Must be able to lift 70+ pounds unassisted.
*
Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting, reaching, and stretching may be required.
*
Must be able to climb and access equipment at various heights and work in confined areas when necessary.
*
Position requires extended periods of standing and walking on concrete floors, which may become wet or slippery.
*
Must be comfortable working in refrigerated environments with temperatures approximately -40°F to -45°F.
*
Exposure to loud machinery and production equipment; hearing protection is required.
*
May be exposed to strong odors associated with food production.
*
Required PPE may include hair/beard nets, rubber-soled footwear, smocks, hearing protection, and hard hats.
*
Good corrected vision is required to safely inspect equipment and read gauges, controls, and other details.
