Under the direction of a physician, the Orthopedics nurse or medical assistant will assist in the delivery of health care for patients. This role involves performing a wide variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to, maintenance of clinical records/documentation, administering medications, giving injections, taking vital signs, processing refill requests, assisting with office procedures, scheduling appointments and EKGs. The ideal candidate will provide direct assistance to the physician and in non-direct care areas such as documentation, coordination, and time management. The candidate must be able to work in a team environment and demonstrate excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor always. Experience with Orthopedics preferred.
Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm
Orthopedic-Specific Responsibilities:
- Monitoring neurovascular status and performing external fixation care

Assisting with continuous passive motion therapy and casting

Providing post-operation care and pain management

Educating patients on steps to manage pain and avoid post-surgical infections

Helping patients improve mobility and functionality by recommending supportive gadgets and furniture.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Taking and recording vital signs and medical histories.

Preparing patients for examination and assisting during medical procedures.

Administering medications/vaccines as directed by the physician, including oral, IM, IV, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections.

Phlebotomy, POC testing.

Assisting with minor surgeries and other procedures like cast application, injections, and in-office procedures.

Education: Graduate of LVN or RN program or CCMA completion

Licensure: Current LVN or RN license in the State of Texas or CCMA certification

Experience: Orthopedics or related field preferred.

Strong knowledge of orthopedic care and general healthcare practices.

Excellent communication and patient interaction skills.

Ability to manage time efficiently and handle multiple tasks.

Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
