We're partnering with a well-established organization that is looking to add an experienced Leave & Workers' Compensation Administrator to its HR team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, enjoys managing complex employee cases, and has experience balancing both leave administration and workers' compensation.
This position supports employees across multiple states (including Canada) and works closely with an external leave administrator while serving as the primary internal resource for employees, managers, HR, payroll, and legal teams.
You'll oversee a wide range of leave programs from start to finish, ensuring employees receive timely support while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and company requirements. Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate and manage employee leaves including FMLA, ADA accommodations, personal leaves, military leave, disability, and state-specific leave programs.
- Partner with a third-party leave administrator to ensure cases are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Guide employees and managers through the interactive ADA accommodation process, including reviewing medical documentation and determining reasonable accommodations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the leave process, providing clear communication and guidance.
- Work closely with HR, payroll, managers, and legal on complex leave situations, policy interpretation, and return-to-work planning.
- Process leave-related payroll adjustments, benefit premium collections, COBRA activity, and other benefit-related transactions.
- Maintain accurate documentation and internal tracking for all leave activity.
- Ensure compliance with changing federal, state, and local leave regulations.
In addition to leave administration, you'll oversee workers' compensation activity by:
- Managing claims from initial report through resolution.
- Coordinating documentation with insurance carriers, adjusters, medical providers, payroll, and managers.
- Supporting return-to-work and light-duty programs.
- Maintaining OSHA logs and required reporting for a large multi-site organization.
- Tracking claim status, restricted duty, lost time, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Assisting with litigation documentation and regulatory requests when needed.
We're especially interested in candidates who have supported large employee populations and are comfortable handling a significant case volume.
Ideal qualifications include:
- 4+ years of experience administering leave of absence programs and workers' compensation.
- Strong understanding of FMLA, ADA, and multi-state leave regulations.
- Experience managing the ADA interactive accommodation process.
- Background working within a large organization supporting high employee populations.
- Ability to manage numerous active leave cases simultaneously while maintaining exceptional accuracy.
- Experience partnering with third-party leave or workers' compensation administrators is highly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent written and verbal communication.
- Experience using HRIS and leave management platforms.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or equivalent experience.
