Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety
- Assist with chairside procedures such as cavity preparations, sealants, and other restorative treatments
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Follow strict infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
- Support general dentistry procedures while demonstrating proficiency in dental terminology and equipment handling
- Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to clinical standards
Qualifications
- Valid state license to practice as a Dental Hygienist with current certification in dental assisting preferred
- Proven experience working in dental clinics or healthcare environments with familiarity in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and dental equipment operation
- Expertise in pediatric dentistry is a plus, along with experience in pediatric patient care and pediatrics-specific procedures
- Skilled in four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize efficiency during procedures
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and medical imaging accurately while maintaining patient comfort
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including aseptic technique and infection management practices
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration
- Commitment to HIPAA compliance management and maintaining the highest standards of patient confidentiality
