The City of Staunton Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Sheriff. This position plays a vital role in maintaining public safety and supporting the operations of the courts through courtroom security, civil process service, and prisoner transportation.
Responsibilities:

Provide security for courtrooms and court-related activities.

Serve civil process documents in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Transport prisoners safely and securely.

Interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Analyze situations and take appropriate and effective action.

Maintain accurate records and reports.

Communicate professionally and effectively with the public, court personnel, and other agencies.
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Current Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) certification preferred.

Prior law enforcement experience preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.

Ability to interpret and apply laws and regulations.

Strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Salary and Benefits

Starting annual salary: $49,131
