This position will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager.
Sourcing Specialist
This role manages the company's procurement and vendor relationships end-to-end. It involves analyzing spend to identify savings and risk areas, sourcing and qualifying vendors, and negotiating contracts to secure optimal pricing and terms. The role also monitors vendor performance to ensure quality and delivery standards are met, mitigates supply risks, and works cross-functionally with internal teams while managing external supplier relationships—using ERP/MRP systems to support these activities.
Sourcing Specialist / Buyer — Job Duties
Procurement Sourcing
- Analyze company spend data to identify cost-saving opportunities, consolidation potential, and areas of supply risk
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to support long-term procurement strategy
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to secure the best possible value for the company
- Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain, including single-source dependencies, lead time volatility, and supplier financial stability
Vendor Management
- Source and evaluate potential vendors based on quality, capability, pricing, and reliability
- Qualify new vendors through audits, sample reviews, or documentation checks as needed
- Monitor ongoing vendor performance against quality and delivery standards, addressing issues as they arise
- Maintain vendor scorecards or performance records to support sourcing decisions
Negotiation
- Lead contract negotiations to secure optimal pricing, payment terms, and delivery commitments
- Balance cost, quality, and risk considerations when finalizing supplier agreements
- Renegotiate existing contracts as market conditions, volume, or business needs change
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Operations, Finance, and Production teams to align procurement activities with business needs
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external supplier relationships, ensuring clear and timely communication
- Communicate changes in supply status, pricing, or vendor performance to relevant internal stakeholders
Technical Proficiency
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems (such as Fishbowl, SAP, or Oracle) to manage purchase orders, track spend, and maintain accurate procurement records
- Ensure data accuracy within procurement and inventory systems to support planning and decision-making
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field
- 1–3 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or purchasing
- Demonstrated negotiation experience (contracts, pricing, or vendor terms)
Technical Skills
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as Fishbowl, SAP, or Oracle
- Proficiency in spend analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, BI/reporting software)
- Familiarity with contract management and vendor qualification processes
Functional Skills
- Ability to analyze spend data to identify cost-saving and risk-mitigation opportunities
- Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing, terms, and contract conditions
- Experience sourcing, qualifying, and monitoring vendor performance against quality and delivery standards
- Understanding of supply risk management principles
Interpersonal Skills
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, working with Quality, Operations, and Finance teams
- Skilled in managing external stakeholder and supplier relationships
- Clear written and verbal communication for contract negotiations and vendor discussions
