Medical Technologist

Position Overview
The Medical Technologist performs a broad range of complex laboratory testing on patient specimens to support the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This role is responsible for producing accurate, reliable, and timely test results while maintaining compliance with quality assurance, safety, and regulatory standards. The Medical Technologist exercises independent judgment in analyzing laboratory data and may serve as a technical resource to laboratory staff and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing on a variety of patient specimens in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results through adherence to quality control and quality assurance standards.
- Document, review, and maintain laboratory records and testing data.
- Utilize laboratory information systems (LIS) to enter, verify, and retrieve patient test results.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Assist with the development, validation, and implementation of laboratory procedures and methodologies.
- Follow all laboratory safety guidelines, infection control policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding test results and laboratory processes.
- Maintain compliance with CAP, CLIA, OSHA, and institutional standards.
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field required.
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant clinical laboratory experience preferred.
Certification
- ASCP, AMT, NCA, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Candidates eligible for certification are encouraged to apply.
- Certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of laboratory testing methodologies and instrumentation.
- Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative test results accurately.
- Proficiency with laboratory information systems and computer-based documentation.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Thorough knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and quality assurance practices.
Work Environment
- Laboratory setting with exposure to biological specimens and potentially hazardous materials.
- Requires adherence to safety procedures, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
