Building Maintenance: (25%)
Responsible for routine repairs of Camp properties, repairs include minor plumbing repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged plumbing and toilets; tape, bed, and float work to repair dents and/or holes in the walls; and paints walls.
Replaces bulbs and florescent tubes.
Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.
Maintains cleanliness of the outside of the Camp properties, with responsibility for cleanliness of inside building in the absence of a custodian, including windows
Monitor’s lighting and changes light bulbs when needed.
Maintains all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Maintenance Department.
Daily monitors the security of the outside property of Campgrounds, including keeping uninvited guests off the premises, including the picnic table area, and removing items left behind, i.e. cardboard boxes to sleep on, food, bottles; responsible for informing Property Manager to contact the police if uninvited guests do not leave the outside premises or unusual situations occur;
Picks up trash in the building and grounds and takes cans to the front of the building by 4:30 p.m. each day
Daily picks up trash in the parking lot; sweeps and cleans lot and sidewalks on a regular basis, cleans ceiling of parking lot near the building, waters plants/flowers on a regular basis, mows grass and trims bushes including those on west side of the driveway
Cleans Salvation Army floater vehicles regularly; maintains fluid levels for all vehicles including gasoline and oil; checks tires and ensures tires are properly inflated; responsible for monitoring of maintenance, i.e., oil change, for other Salvation Army vehicles at DHQ; ensures that mileage logs are being completed
Locks building daily to include making a list of those employees staying in the building after hours.
During inclement weather, removal of snow from all ramps and walkways, including sidewalk in front of the building and application of snow melt.
Load and deliver furniture, conference supplies, etc. on Campgrounds.
Sets up meeting rooms as requested, including tables and chairs
Performs custodial work including cleaning bathrooms, general offices, and the kitchen/break room
Grounds Keeping Responsibilities (25%)
Maintains grounds and area surrounding buildings.
Mows and weeds grass; edges lawns, sidewalks, and curbs; rakes, vacuums, and blows leaves and debris from sidewalks and parking lots; collects and discards debris and trash from grounds.
Cuts-down trees; fills holes with dirt; trims trees and bushes; splits wood; plants flowers, shrubs, trees, etc.; moves flower beds; seeds new grass.
Inspects grounds regularly to detect needed repairs or unsafe conditions.
Ensures water systems are properly operating at all facilities and sprinkler systems; maintains on-site ponds; ensures proper maintenance of grounds keeping equipment; lubricates mowers and tractor fittings; installs tractor tires as needed.
Dining Room Responsibilities (50%)
Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines as well as American Camp Association accreditation standards.
Maintains awareness of the dining area to ensure safety, fire and health policies and procedures are observed at all times; reports any deviation to the Camp Dining Hall Supervisor.
Maintains personal hygiene according to health regulations (i.e. washing of hands, hair put back, closed toes shoes, etc.); Duties include setting tables, serving on the food line at all meals, cleaning the dining room, bathrooms and surrounding areas.
Cleaning of the dining hall to include sweeping, mopping, polishing and waxing the kitchen and dining room floors.
Ensures the cleanliness of the tables, chairs, condiment holders, refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, coffee makers, stoves, and ovens.
Assists in ensuring that all garbage containers in kitchen and dining areas are leak proof and securely covered and tied when not in use.
Coordinates the disposal of trash and recyclables.
Maintains inventory; ensure items are stocked and organized with supplies; advise the Camp Dining Hall supervisor of any needs.
Dining room staff may be asked to assist the cooks.
Prepares an aesthetically pleasing salad bar with fresh food daily. After meal service bring the salad bar back to the kitchen and prepare it for dinner. Clean the salad bar and the floor around it. Ensure the Salad Prep area is clean. Also, help prep fruits and vegetables for meal service to the Campers and Staff.
Kitchen Assistant Responsibilities (50%)
Assists in preparing meals, beverages and snacks; washes and chops fruits and vegetables; mixes beverages and arranges snacks.
Assists in serving meals ensuring appropriate proportions are provided.
Washes, dries, and stores pots, pans, plates, glasses, cups, bowls, and utensils.
Cleans tables, chairs, and condiment holders
Sweeps, mops, polishes, strips, and waxes kitchen and dining room floors.
Cleans refrigerators, freezers, ice machines, coffee makers, stoves, and ovens.
Stock’s foods, beverages, and supplies in an orderly and safe manner.
Empties trash cans.
Childcare worker:
Sign-in children as they are dropped off by guardian.
Ensure their safety while they are in your custody.
Ensure cleanliness of the play area and bathrooms.
Feed them snacks and drinks as approved by their guardian and provided by the Kitchen Staff.
Play games and provide activities that are age appropriate.
Stay with them in designated area until the guardian returns to pick them up and have the guardian sign them out.
Other Responsibilities:
Performs routine errands for the office staff; picks up supplies and other items for department events as needed
Picks up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work; delivers mail to post office when necessary
Loads and delivers all recyclables to the recycling center as needed
Assists in making special arrangements for special events and/or programs.
Performs other related work as required.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required
And
Two years of experience in handling minor repairs and good skill in the use of hand and power tools and repair work for commercial buildings and grounds or performing construction work, One year experience working in a kitchen preferred.
Or
equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Licenses & Certifications:
Valid driver’s license

Duties are usually performed standing. Periods of walking and strenuous work will be relieved by periods of sitting.
Heavy amount of physical effort required associated with walking, stooping, standing, climbing, lifting and carrying moderate to heavy objects (over 25 lbs.) 20-50 % of work time.
