Legal Prep Charter Academy seeks a Part-Time School Nurse for the 2026–2027 school year, beginning August 3, 2026.
The Part-Time School Nurse provides specialized health services to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans. This role focuses on delivering required nursing minutes, supporting student access to instruction, and ensuring compliance with all medical and special education documentation requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Student Services:
- Provide nursing services to students as outlined in IEPs and 504 Plans (e.g., medication administration, monitoring health conditions, medical procedures).
- Track and document delivery of required nursing minutes to ensure compliance.
- Respond to student health needs during assigned days on campus.
IEP/504 Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records for students with IEPs/504 Plans.
- Complete all required documentation related to nursing services, including logs, reports, and progress updates.
- Contribute to IEP and 504 meetings as needed, including providing input on student health needs and accommodations.
Collaboration & Consultation
- Consult with teachers, case managers, and school staff regarding student health plans, accommodations, and safety protocols.
- Support staff in implementing health-related accommodations within the classroom.
- Communicate with families as needed regarding student health concerns and care plans.
Health & Safety Oversight
- Ensure compliance with school, district, and state health regulations.
- Maintain organization of health supplies and student medication.
- Provide guidance on emergency response protocols for students with medical needs.
Qualifications
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- CPR/AED certification required
- Preferred: Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Nurse endorsement
- Experience working in a school setting or with pediatric populations strongly preferred
- Familiarity with IEP/504 processes and documentation
Schedule
- Part-time: 2 days per week
- 5–8 hours per day (flexible based on student service minutes)
Pay: $32.00 - $50.00 per hour
