Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will support veterinarians in providing exceptional animal care and medical services. This role offers an engaging environment where animal handling, clinical skills, and veterinary knowledge are essential to ensure the health and well-being of our patients. Prior veterinary technician experience and familiarity with a variety of animal species are highly valued.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures, ensuring proper animal restraint and safety.
- Perform laboratory tests, including sample collection and analysis, to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Conduct animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, grooming, and maintaining clean kennels and treatment areas.
- Handle pet grooming, pet care, and dog training activities to promote pet comfort and behavior management.
- Utilize aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
- Take radiographs (X-ray) imaging for diagnostic purposes while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist with animal catheterization, wound care, and other critical care procedures as needed.
- Maintain detailed medical records and document all treatments accurately.
- Support client education on pet health, nutrition, and preventive care.
Skills
- Proven veterinary technician experience with a strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy.
- Kennel experience along with animal handling skills for dogs, cats, horses (equine experience), and other small animals.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and pet grooming techniques.
- Laboratory experience including sample collection and analysis techniques.
- Ability to perform animal restraint effectively using proper techniques for safe handling.
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care procedures such as animal catheterization and aseptic technique.
- Experience with X-ray imaging procedures; knowledge of veterinary radiology is a plus.
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
