Job Summary:
The Loan Review Officer primarily supports the Deputy Credit Officer in reviewing credit memos from various lending teams across the bank and SBA loan packages from two SBA lending teams to ensure the accuracy and quality of underwriting. Additionally, the role includes evaluating EPA reports for CRE and SBA loans and ensuring adherence to all compliance programs, regulations, and training requirements.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct independent reviews of commercial, consumer, and real estate loans to assess credit quality.
- Evaluate borrower financials, repayment history, and overall risk exposure.
- Identify trends, risks, and weaknesses in loan portfolios and recommend corrective actions.
- Assess EPA reports on commercial real estate (CRE) and SBA loans.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory laws and internal bank policies.
- Assess the adequacy of loan loss reserves based on risk ratings and portfolio performance.
- Ensure compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory guidelines
- Maintain knowledge of financial industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes.
- Participate in risk rating reviews and provide input for all adjustments.
- Provide leadership and training to junior loan officers and staff members.
- Maintain professionalism in all interactions with colleagues, clients, and vendors.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in loan review, credit analysis, or commercial lending.
- Strong knowledge of SBA lending, commercial real estate loans, and credit underwriting.
- Familiarity with compliance regulations and risk management best practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting tools.
