Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and review of medical histories to inform individualized care plans.
- Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, following aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Monitor patients' conditions continuously, recognizing signs of deterioration or acute pain, and respond promptly with appropriate interventions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care, discharge planning, and case management for optimal patient recovery.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document medical records accurately and efficiently.
- Perform procedures such as suturing, catheterization—including urinary and vascular access—and tube feeding management.
- Assist in diagnostic evaluations like laboratory specimen collection/processing, imaging procedures (e.g., CT scans), and diagnostic coding (ICD-10/ICD-9).
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure with active registration; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Proven experience in medical-surgical nursing within hospital or outpatient settings; ICU or emergency room experience highly desirable.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; proficiency in medical documentation and coding (ICD-10/ICD-9).
- Knowledge of aseptic technique, IV insertion/infusion, suturing, catheter care, and ventilator management.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
- Critical care experience including ICU or trauma medicine; Level I or II trauma center experience is advantageous.
- Ability to perform physical examinations accurately and utilize physiological knowledge for patient assessment.
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols, laboratory procedures, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for triage assessments, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
