The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for providing a structured program of skilled treatment services for adults receiving services in our Outpatient Program.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete Multidimensional Assessments for participants.
- Develop Individual Treatment plans in collaboration with team of credentialed addiction treatment professionals.
- Complete and submit service authorizations, along with tracking and monitoring.
- Provide individual counseling
- Provide occupational and recreational therapies, motivational interviewing, enhancement, and engagement strategies to inspire a participant's motivation to change behaviors.
- Link participants with other community resources such as psychiatric services.
- Maintain care coordination with outside treatment providers.
- Establish close working relationships with other professionals.
- Use therapeutic relationship to build participant’s positive skills/behaviors.
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of mental health disorders, their symptoms, treatment and social implications in relation to participant and family.
- Knowledge of counseling techniques.
- Knowledge of individual and group behavior and the effective ways of working with people to produce on-going recovery.
- Strong Computer Skills
- Must be Highly Organized
