Under the direction of the Clinic Supervisor, this position is responsible to for assisting the Clinic Supervisor in accomplishing the clinical and organizational goals of the Company), by providing first line on-site leadership, support and oversight of the workflow of the clinic. She/he will act as the resource person for the clinic staff and provide guidance and support for the CCMAs, ward clerks, medical clerks, and receptionists. This position is designed to facilitate the needs of both the patients and staff within the clinic and, to enhance the flow of patient care through the clinic and to ensure quality of care. The Lead California Certified Medical Assistant will serve as the liaison for the Clinic Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations, and to report any problems if they occur. The Lead CCMA serves as a role model of professional behavior and will be an integral part of the team in creating a professional clinical climate within the Company to meet the needs of the diverse units within the Company and its global needs. The CCMA Lead must maintain adherence to policies, procedures, and regulations of the Company and participate in an interdisciplinary and inter-facility approach to achieving the mission, philosophy, and goals the Company. The Lead CCMA will interact with other departments, clinic personnel, and outside providers in a professional and friendly manner, to create and maintain a positive relationship with our internal and external customers.
- Competent in procedures/services offered in the Company Clinics:
- Vital signs including orthostatic VS
- Ankle-Brachial Index
- Specimen collection - blood draw, urinalysis, culture swabs, etc.
- Basic wound care and dressing changes
- Ear lavage
- Eye irrigation
- Electrocardiogram
- TB skin testing
- Visual acuity test
- Waived test kits (rapid strep test, urinalysis, )
- Application of Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
- Pulmonary function test
- Audiogram
- Overnight pulse oximeter monitoring
- Responsible for following the Standard/Universal Precautions by hand washing, using PPE, basic knowledge infection control and medical waste management for clinic setting.
- Responsible for data entry and management of vaccinations in the CAIR website.
- Responsible for activating the Chain of Command if there are abnormal vital signs which is to report to MD/provider immediately.
- Responsible to "room" patients, do the intake notes, including VS and complete NextGen MA Workflow.
- Responsible to ensure that the recent results of any tests are retrieved are ready for provider review.
- Responsible for performing "nurse only" visits with appropriate documentation:
- Provider's signature
- Task provider for completion
Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the resuscitation equipment USTAT Box
Ensuring the monthly checks of the supplies and medication expiration dates are checked and logs are up to date
Responsible for setting up for minor procedures such as PAP Smears/ Suture Removal/ l&D, etc
Responsible for checking refrigerator/freezer temperature in the morning and evening and logging each temperature in the VFC binder. Report any abnormal temperatures to
Knowledge of patient forms: OMV physical, sports physical, Handicap Placard, Disability,
Responsible for sterilizing & disinfecting surgical instruments: autoclave instruments, preparation, and operation
Understand the referral process & how to advise patients
- Refill Maintenance Medications (Understand importance & internal policy for refills):
- No Narcotics!
- Must consult provider on any refill.
- Communicate need for patient to be seen if they haven't been in for a while per the provider directive.
- Apply detailed notes to the chart.
- Responsible for updating health maintenance on all preventative reports:
- Dexa Scan
- Eye exam
- Mammogram
- Pap Smear
- Colonoscopy, etc.
- Responsible to ensure all hospital notes have been retrieved to appointment for Provider to review on all EHR and HD's.
- Responsible for managing the "tasks" that includes clearing tasks inbox daily, sending and receiving tasks
- Handle all Senior Well Visits (SWV) and ensure compliance to keep appointment (annual chart update, need for labs and EKG prior to scheduled appointment).
- Handle complaints in a responsible and professional manner.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Assist with submission of referrals for the providers and case managers as appropriate.
- Manage and follow the process for primary care provider (PCP) changes.
- Process all incoming correspondence ensuring the following are completed prior to giving to the provider must have patient's chart number, last visit, next visit date, refill requests, reports, results, paperwork.
- Perform CUA waived and moderate complexity testing and quality control.
- Administer medication as prescribed within scope of practice.
- Other duties as assigned by Senior VP of Health Services or designee.
Requirements:
- High School diploma/certificate required.
- Graduate of an approved or accredited school of medical assistants required.
- Current California Certified Medical Assistant certificate required.
- Must have at least three years of CCMA experience.
- Must have current BLS Certification.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be reasonably between $28.05 and $33.00. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
Compensation: Between $28.05 and $33.00
