Controller — Aspire Contracting & Roofing
Tempe | Full-Time
About Us
Aspire Contracting & Roofing is a fast-growing insurance-restoration roofing company serving the entire state of Arizona, with branches in North Phoenix and Tempe. We help homeowners navigate hail and wind damage claims and rebuild their roofs — and we're scaling our internal operations to match our growth.
The Role
We're looking for a hands-on Controller to own the financial backbone of our company. You'll work directly with ownership to bring structure, accuracy, and visibility to our books across two branch operations, as well as a third entity. This is a great fit for someone who wants real ownership over a finance function at a growing company, not just a seat in a back office.
What You'll Do
- Own day-to-day bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations across both branches
- Manage job costing and profitability tracking for roofing projects (materials, subcontractor crews, commissions)
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting for ownership
- Build and maintain cash flow forecasts and budgets
- Track commission payouts for 1099 Project Managers
- Partner with our CPA on tax prep, payroll compliance, and year-end close
- Identify process improvements and tighten up financial controls as we scale
- Support compensation and margin-scenario planning for leadership
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of accounting/controller experience (construction, contracting, or roofing industry experience a strong plus)
- Strong Excel/QuickBooks (or similar) skills
- Franchise or multi-unit/multi-branch accounting experience strongly preferred — comfortable managing financials across separate locations and rolling them up for ownership
- Comfortable with job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Experience with 1099 contractor payouts and commission structures a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance preferred (not required with strong experience)
Compensation & Benefits
- $100,000-$150,000
- Benefits — health insurance, dental, vision, PTO
- Direct access to ownership and real input into how the finance function is builtTo Apply
