WESTEC Inc., a leading federal contractor seeking a high-caliber Project Superintendent to spearhead our road repair operations at Fort Polk, Louisiana. This is a premier leadership role for a seasoned construction professional who thrives in the demanding environment of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects. Your Impact:
As the Project Superintendent, you will be the primary on-site leader, responsible for the successful execution of all construction activities. Your mission includes:
- Operational Excellence: Direct and coordinate all on-site construction activities, ensuring that project milestones are met with precision and efficiency.
- Government Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for USACE representatives on-site, fostering a collaborative and productive relationship.
- Resource Management: Effectively manage and schedule subcontractors, labor, and equipment to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Safety Leadership: In collaboration with the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO), enforce strict adherence to EM 385-1-1 safety protocols, ensuring a zero-incident workplace.
- Quality Stewardship: Work closely with the Quality Control Manager (QCM) to ensure all work meets or exceeds USACE technical specifications and quality standards.
- Project Documentation: Maintain accurate daily logs, track material deliveries, and provide regular progress updates to project leadership.
- Technical Oversight: Provide expert guidance on horizontal construction processes, including asphalt paving, subgrade preparation, and drainage systems.
What You Bring:
- Proven Leadership: Minimum of 10 years of construction experience, with at least 5 years as a Superintendent on USACE or other federal construction projects.
- Certifications Required:
◦ OSHA 30-Hour Construction safety certification.
◦ Current First Aid and CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
◦ Must meet USACE Competent Person requirements as defined in EM 385-1-1 for relevant project hazards (e.g., excavation, fall protection).
◦ USACE Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors certification is highly preferred.
- Horizontal Expertise: Extensive knowledge of road construction, paving, earthwork, and infrastructure projects.
- Federal Compliance: Deep familiarity with USACE administrative requirements (UFGS Section 01 30 00) and safety standards (EM 385-1-1).
- Strategic Thinking: Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
- Communication Mastery: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead diverse teams and effectively interface with government officials.
