Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Employment Associate Attorney to join our litigation-focused employment practice. The successful candidate will provide legal counseling to employers, manage complex employment disputes, and support all phases of litigation from pre-suit counseling through trial. This role emphasizes motion practice, discovery, depositions, and strategic case development in both employment and related commercial litigation matters.
Key Responsibilities

Provide counseling to clients on employment law matters including policies, compliance, investigations, and risk management

Manage a caseload of employment and commercial litigation matters, handling pleadings, discovery, and motion practice

Draft, file, and argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions, including summary judgment motions and responses

Prepare and defend depositions; conduct witness preparation and manage deposition strategy

Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, briefs, and legal correspondence with a high degree of accuracy and persuasiveness

Collaborate with partners and senior associates on case strategy, client pitches, and settlement negotiations

Participate in trial preparation and, when appropriate, take an active role at trial or in arbitration proceedings

Assist in developing business for the practice through client relationship management and contributing to proposals and thought leadership
Qualifications
-
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
-
Barred in IL
-
4+ years of employment litigation and counseling experience

Proven experience in motion practice, including drafting and arguing summary judgment motions

Experience conducting and defending depositions and handling all stages of discovery

Strong legal research and writing skills, with experience preparing briefs, pleadings, and client advisories

Excellent client counseling and oral advocacy skills; comfortable advising employers and employees on complex legal issues

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage competing deadlines, and prioritize a busy caseload

Familiarity with e-discovery tools and litigation technology; attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Professionalism, sound judgment, and a commitment to ethical practice
