Job Summary
The Dock Administrator plays a vital role in our logistics and supply chain operations by managing the administrative functions of the loading dock. This position ensures all incoming and outgoing shipments are accurately documented, scheduled, and processed, serving as the critical link between the physical movement of goods and our inventory management systems. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Documentation & Record Keeping: Accurately record all incoming and outgoing shipments, including data entry into the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and maintaining physical and electronic filing systems for shipping documents, invoices, and manifests.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Coordinate the arrival and departure times of trucks and carriers, assign dock doors, and communicate schedules to warehouse staff and dispatchers to prevent bottlenecks and ensure timely operations.
- Shipment Verification: Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy, quality, and any potential damage, reporting discrepancies to management or relevant departments immediately.
- Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for truck drivers, warehouse workers, and other departments (e.g., sales, inventory control) to provide updates, resolve issues, and ensure seamless coordination.
- Inventory Support: Assist the inventory control team with cycle counts, stock reconciliation, and general inventory management tasks to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all dock activities adhere to company safety protocols and relevant transportation/OSHA regulations, promoting a safe and organized work environment.
