Job purpose
Co-Diagnostics Inc, (Co-Dx) is a Salt Lake City molecular diagnostics company committed to finding innovative diagnostic solutions to global health problems as we develop an at-home and point-of-care PCR test platform to detect viruses and other pathogens. The Director of Operations oversees the production of consumable kits including reagents and instrument manufacture and has responsibility for ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations within the reagent and instrument production departments, as well as optimizing the supply chain process. This role requires excellent leadership, organizational, and analytical skills to drive operational excellence and meet the demands of our growing business.
Duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Reagent Production Management:
- Oversee the production of reagents, ensuring timely and accurate manufacturing in compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement production plans, schedules, and resource allocation to meet production targets.
- Monitor production processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Collaborate with R&D and Quality Assurance teams to ensure smooth technology transfer and product launches.
Instrument Production Management:
- Manage the production of instruments, ensuring adherence to manufacturing specifications, quality control, and on-time delivery.
- Develop and maintain production schedules, capacity planning, and resource allocation to meet production goals.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Quality Assurance teams to drive new product introductions and ensure efficient manufacturing processes.
Supply Chain Management:
- Work with the supply chain manager to develop and execute supply chain strategies to optimize inventory levels, reduce lead times, and ensure timely delivery of raw materials and finished goods.
- Job site and regular attendance is required.
Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills, Certifications, etc.)
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, in Engineering, Business, or a related field, plus 7+ years of work experience in a manufacturing environment (medical device experience preferred)

Skills:
Team Leadership:
- Lead and motivate the instrument and consumable manufacturing teams.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.
- Identify skill gaps and training needs and facilitate training programs to enhance team capabilities.
- Ensure a safe and compliant working environment, adhering to all relevant safety and regulatory guidelines.
Collaboration:
- Work with the product development teams to transfer new products from R&D to production.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational performance and regularly report on progress.
- Analyze production data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to improve performance.
- Prepare and present reports to senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Working conditions
- May be required to wear PPE such as lab coat, safety glasses and/or face shields, safety gloves, and other safety equipment as needed.
- May work a variety of shifts that include a traditional workday (8:00 am to 5:00 pm, etc.), a 9/8/80 schedule with every other Friday off, or other shifts as may be assigned.
- Remote work is not available for this role.
- Travel on an occasional basis may be required (10-20%) to attend conferences, seminars, or presentations.
Physical requirements
- This job requires long periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
- There will be stooping, bending, and twisting.
- Based on the nature of the medical devices being manufactured, the ambient air temperature and/or humidity levels may fluctuate.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Fine motor coordination with hand and finger dexterity.
- Good visual acuity including color perception.
