Join our dedicated team as an Activities Assistant/Transporter in a long-term care setting! Responsibilities
- Help plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of engaging recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including memory care and dementia-friendly programs
- Assist with organizing resident events, outings, and social gatherings to promote community involvement and enjoyment
- Provide transportation support for residents to medical appointments, community outings, and special events while ensuring safety and comfort
- Build strong rapport with residents through active listening, personalized interaction, and compassionate caregiving during activities and transportation
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as mobility support, dressing, and personal hygiene as needed during activities or outings
- Maintain detailed records of resident participation, activity schedules, and transportation logs using basic Microsoft Office tools for documentation purposes
- Collaborate with team members to develop new programs that enhance senior living experiences and address individual resident needs
Qualifications
- Prior experience in assisted living or nursing home environments, especially with seniors or individuals with disabilities
- Clean driver record
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, geriatrics, and memory care best practices
- Strong event planning skills with the ability to coordinate resident outings and social programs effectively
- Excellent communication skills to engage residents, families, and team members clearly and empathetically
- Experience working with geriatric patients in long-term care or home & community care settings is highly desirable
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for record keeping and program development
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver’s license preferred for transportation responsibilities; must adhere to safety protocols at all times
