Job Title: Receptionist; The Cupboard Kosher Food Pantry
Classification: Professional, Part-Time/ Hourly Non-Exempt
Summary: The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for clients, volunteers, donors, and community partners. This role is vital in ensuring a warm, organized, and responsive front office, supporting day-to-day operations of the food pantry with professionalism and compassion.
Responsibilities:

Greet visitors, clients, and volunteers with a friendly and respectful attitude

Answer incoming phone calls and direct inquiries appropriately

Respond to email inquiries or route messages to appropriate staff

Assist clients with check-in and intake procedures

Maintain confidentiality and dignity of all clients and visitors

Schedule appointments or food pick-up times when necessary

Help maintain accurate records and update the client database

Distribute informational materials or forms to clients and visitors

Support administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and photocopying

Ensure the reception area is tidy, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies

Maintain and order office supplies; monitor inventory
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to support pantry operations

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Prior receptionist, front desk, or customer service experience preferred

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data entry

Sensitivity to issues of food insecurity and ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations

Bilingual (especially Spanish or other prevalent community language) a plus
Work Environment:

Warehouse environment with frequent interaction with clients from varied backgrounds

May involve occasional lifting of supplies (up to 20 lbs.)

Schedule will be Monday–Thursday, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
