Position Description
American Peat Technology (APT) is seeking a dependable and hands-on Maintenance Technician with electrical experience or certification to support the upkeep and reliability of plant equipment and facilities. This role is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and assisting with repairs to ensure safe and efficient operations.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, has working knowledge of electrical systems, and enjoys solving problems in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
The schedule for this position is generally Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5pm. Other days and hours are occasionally required. Work locations include APT’s main facility located outside of the city of Aitkin and a second facility located in the city of Aitkin.
This position starts at $65,000 year, paid bi-weekly in accordance with the Company's standard payroll practices. This is an exempt position.

Job Duties
Equipment Maintenance and Repair
- Perform routine maintenance on plant equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues in a timely manner
- Assist with diagnosing equipment failures and implementing corrective actions
- Support equipment setup, adjustments, and changeovers as needed
Electrical Support
- Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting, wiring, and component replacement
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams (preferred)
- Work with motors, control panels, sensors, and related systems
- Ensure all electrical work is performed safely and in compliance with applicable standards
Preventive Maintenance
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance tasks and maintain accurate records
- Identify potential issues before they lead to equipment downtime
- Support the development and improvement of maintenance procedures
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Report safety concerns and participate in continuous improvement efforts
General Support
- Assist with facility maintenance and general repairs as needed
- Support installation of new equipment and upgrades
- Work collaboratively with operations and engineering teams to minimize downtime

Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical degree, certification, or coursework in electrical, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment preferred
- Basic electrical knowledge required; formal electrical certification is a plus
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams preferred
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Work performed in industrial and production environments
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25-50 pounds
- May work in environments with noise, dust, and varying temperatures
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined spaces as needed
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
