Duties
- Provide essential daily care to patients, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, ensuring timely communication of any concerns to nursing staff.
- Support medication administration under supervision, adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Assist with specialized patient needs such as catheter care, wound care, Alzheimer's and dementia care, and memory support strategies.
- Maintain a safe environment by following aseptic techniques during procedures and ensuring infection control protocols are rigorously followed.
- Document patient interactions and care activities within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner with precision and clarity.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in settings such as emergency medicine, ICU, pediatrics, behavioral health, or post-acute care to deliver comprehensive patient service.
- Use your physiology and anatomy knowledge to support patient positioning and comfort while utilizing equipment like Hoyer lifts or bedside monitors.
- Engage with patients of all ages—including pediatrics and seniors—delivering compassionate caregiving tailored to individual needs in outpatient clinics or home & community care environments.
Experience
- Prior experience working in long-term care facilities such as nursing homes or assisted living communities is highly valued.
- Demonstrated critical care experience in settings like ICU or Level I Trauma Centers enhances your ability to handle complex patient needs effectively.
- Experience with medical office procedures, including EMR/EHR systems such as eClinicalWorks or Cerner, is preferred for seamless documentation.
- Background in hospital medicine or acute care environments—such as emergency rooms or surgical units—equips you with the skills necessary for fast-paced situations.
- Knowledge of specialized areas like hospice care, infectious disease management, behavioral health support, or geriatrics is advantageous.
- Working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges demonstrates your versatility and dedication to inclusive patient service.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or other relevant credentials is required to ensure readiness for emergency situations.
