Responsibilities
- Operate tractor-trailer units on over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries across designated territories
- Safely load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, forklifts, or other equipment as required
- Manage refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or specialized equipment for hazardous materials and dangerous goods transportation
- Navigate using GPS systems to optimize routes while adhering to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Ensure compliance with hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols during all phases of transport
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, inspection reports, and delivery receipts in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety and readiness for long-haul routes
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL)
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving in various environments
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tanker trucks, dump trucks, roll-off trucks or other specialized equipment
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT standards, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for manual transmission vehicles
- Experience with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time tracking
- Ability to manually handle freight safely during loading/unloading processes; forklift certification is a plus
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling procedures and truck loading/unloading techniques
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance
