Job Title: Recreation & Rental Shack Associate

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; additional education or training in recreation, hospitality, or related field preferred.
Experience: 1–2 years in a related field preferred. Customer service or recreation-related experience preferred. Experience handling cash or point-of-sale transactions is a plus. Familiarity with lake, boating, or outdoor recreation environments is beneficial. Experience in recreation or event planning preferred.
Work Schedule: Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Seasonal position with shifts scheduled Memorial Day through Labor Day and weekends in September and October.
The Recreation & Rental Shack Associate supports the Recreation Department by assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of recreational programs, events, and facility rentals while also providing safe, efficient, and courteous rental services for lake and island activities. This role promotes patron safety by enforcing boating, beach, and island rules; maintaining a clean and orderly beach and rental area; and ensuring rental equipment is properly maintained, secured, and utilized according to established procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following, plus other duties assigned as needed.

Assist in recreational activities: Support the planning, coordination, and execution of recreational activities and events for the Association.

Customer service: Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries and resolving complaints promptly and efficiently.

Event setup and breakdown: Assist in the setup and breakdown of events, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

Volunteer coordination: Help coordinate volunteer efforts during Association events.

Program quality monitoring: Monitor the quality of programs and suggest improvements and changes as needed.

Facility rental support: Ensure facility rentals comply with Association policy and procedures and coordinate rental activity with relevant departments.

Inventory maintenance: Maintain inventory for the department and ensure proper supplies and equipment are available for efficient operations.

Work site inspections: Conduct inspections of work sites/areas to ensure compliance with Association regulations and/or state regulations.

Event planning and coordination: Support the planning and development of event schedules, topics, and featured speakers. Assist in the registration process for event participants.

Administrative duties: Assist with administrative duties and details associated with events, including distribution of promotional materials, and responding to inquiries.

Open the rental shack daily by unlocking boats and equipment, removing garbage and excess water, and performing visual inspections of boats and equipment for damage, safety, or maintenance concerns.

Maintain a clean, safe, and attractive rental shop, boat launch, and surrounding beach area by removing garbage, seaweed, rocks, and debris throughout the day.

Monitor and limit lake access and equipment rentals to authorized homeowners and guests by verifying valid badges.

Complete all boat and equipment rental procedures, including verifying age requirements, checking homeowner and guest badges, and accurately recording renter information on designated sign-out sheets.

Receive, process, and record payments in accordance with Association procedures.

Review safety rules with patrons before rentals, ensure proper use of life jackets, and provide appropriately sized personal flotation devices.

Inform patrons of rental time limits and enforce the “last rental” policy at designated times.

Perform closing operations by ensuring all boats and equipment are returned, properly stored, secured, and locked at the end of each shift.

Refer questions, concerns, or incidents to Recreation management promptly.

Complete activity and participation reports and submit them to the Recreation Director as required.

Performs any and all duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor.

Ability to lift, push, pull a minimum of 50 lbs.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods; ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, sun, and moderate inclement weather.
