Abcott Institute is seeking a dedicated and skilled Career Counselor to assist our adult students enrolled in health care programs with their job search efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in career counseling, particularly in the healthcare sector, and will be proficient in providing guidance on resume writing, cover letter creation, and interviewing skills. This role is pivotal in helping our students transition from academic learning to professional employment. As a Career Counselor at our Institute, you will play a vital role in guiding and supporting students in their career development. You will utilize your expertise to help students explore career options, set goals, and develop strategies to achieve them.
Duties
- Provide one-on-one career counseling sessions to students
- Assist students in identifying their strengths, interests, and career goals
- Conduct mock interviews to prepare students for the job application process
- Deliver workshops and presentations on various career-related topics
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success
- Participate and attend various employer and college career fairs
-Support students in understanding and using the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
-Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate career development into the academic curriculum.
- Offer program information to high school students.
- Educate students on resume writing, job search strategies, and networking techniques.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Career Development, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
- Certified in Career Development (preferred).
- Experience in academic advising or career counseling
- Strong communication and interpersonal skill
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, and internet research.
- Familiarity with Canvas LMS or other learning management systems.
- Familiarity with university resources and support services
- Experience working with students in a higher education setting
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse student population. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in public speaking and delivering presentations

Pay: $48,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
