Summary:
A Cable Technician/Installer is primarily responsible for ensuring the timely, accurate, and quality of installation on site. The technician will work very closely with management to ensure satisfactory results. The Technician is expected to have a fluent skillset and will complete multiple aspects of the cable installation process; including: running of cables, dressing of cables, closet build outs, labeling, and working very closely with customer to ensure required tasks are completed.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Install cable pathways including using zip ties, Velcro, J Hooks, and D Rings.
- Install, terminate, test, and label all cables on project.
- Dress and route cable into IDF locations, Main server rooms, and any end locations such as counters, power poles, etc.
- Clean up and dress existing cables and new in equipment rooms.
- Must have knowledge of troubleshooting and testing existing and new cables on project.
- Must have ability to install, terminate and test low voltage cables & fiber optic cables.
- Understands and follows all safety requirements when on site (ex. hardhat, harness, etc). Must comply to standards set by General Contractor and Customer.
- Complete nightly paperwork before leaving site.
- Perform all work as required and any additional work requested.
- Must have professional appearance and attitude.
- Must be able to be positive, have a great attitude, and understand our customer is our main priority.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Ability to understand and effectively explain every aspect of the cabling process to us. Must understand and be able to demonstrate correct cabling practices.
- Ability to listen carefully to follow instructions and be flexible in our customers needs and requests.

- Ability to meet deadlines
- Must be able to work night shift.
- Must be independent and be able to self- start. Must be able to complete tasks, troubleshoot, and solve issues independently.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-3 years’ work experience in Structured Cabling
- Read, write, and understand English
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel 90-95% of the time.
Additional Notes:
- We have a 90 day probationary period
- Individuals who apply must meet all above requirements and have the above skill set.
- Individuals who apply must have all required tools of industry. (RJ45 crimpers, Punch down tool, snips, testers, toner, drill and impact driver, drill bits, etc.)
- Salary dependent on candidate experience.
