The position of Business Development Representative is responsible for providing exceptional customer service in all aspects of the position. The primary responsibilities of the position include soliciting new business (both individually and through joint calling efforts) from prospective customers, cross selling additional products to existing customers, processing documents and opening any new accounts. New Account Duties include, but are not limited to: opening all types of deposit and time accounts (DDA, Savings, CD, IRA, and Business Accounts) following required documentation and compliance policy and procedures. Business Development Representative must follow compliance guidelines (including BSA, CDD, and AML) and complete required compliance testing. Incumbent must also be a subject matter expert on all business and consumer deposit and digital products. Position is required to be knowledgeable of and cross-sell all Bank products and services. The position requires working with Bank and customer confidential information on a daily basis and operating a motorized vehicle between branch locations and to customer locations.

- Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers at all times. Follow established customer service program.
- Represent the Bank in a professional manner at all times through appearance and behavior.
- Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of customer financial information.
- Business Development Representative will be required to make outside the Bank sales calls in order to develop additional business for the Bank.
- Business Development Representative must be an expert in all deposit products and services for both business and consumer. They must also have an intermediate knowledge of loan products.
- Business Development Representative’s primary function is to gain additional business for the Bank in all areas: Deposit, Loan, Mortgage, and Business Banking Products. Job performance criteria will be based around sales results directly attributable to the representative.
- The Business Development Representative must also show the highest commitment to following all established policies and procedures relating to the opening or set up of products sold. Incumbent should have very few exceptions and maintain accurate and complete customer documentation.
- Participate and lead the Bank in community involvement activities and CRA service hours.
- Business Development Representative must display excellent team work in coordinating and communicating with customers and with the retail, loan, mortgage, deposit operations, and business banking teams.
- Open all types of deposit products including: DDA, Savings, CD, IRA, and Business Accounts. Opens products for all types of ownerships including: Individual, Joint, Trust, Corporations, LLC, etc., following established New Account procedures. Follow compliance guidelines including BSA and AML.
- Follow appropriate compliance guidelines, including for the handling of confidential Bank and customer information. Complete compliance testing as required.
- Knowledgeable of all Bank products and services, cross sell all Bank products and services, and work toward branch, Bank, and individual sales goals.
- Follow established security protocol and minimize risk to the Bank at all times, including in the handling of confidential Bank and client information (ex: opening and closing of the Bank, utilizing dual control, customer service standards, etc.)
- Assist with customer inquiries both in person and by phone. Solve customer problems at point of contact within given authority.
- Assist with daily/weekly/monthly reports, checklists, and other departmental duties.
- Serve as a backup for Customer Care Center as needed.
- Handle various other duties and tasks as assigned by management.
- Work with Bank and customer confidentiality while performing the essential duties enumerated above.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Routinely drive a motorized vehicle to various Bank and customer locations.

- Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university or a minimum of (2) years of related experience and/or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, is required to be applicable to the financial industry.
- Work-related experience must consist of sales, support, and business development experience in the financial services industry.
- Advanced product knowledge of banking services and deposit products, including set up and account opening procedures.
- Intermediate experience, knowledge, and training in all lending and operations activities and terminology; intermediate loan product knowledge.
- Advanced sales and marketing experience, with a demonstrated ability to cross-sell and explain all Bank products and services with confidence and authority.
- Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation, host computer system word processing, spreadsheet and specialty software programs; basic typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
- Intermediate math skills including, but not limited to, the following: ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio, and percent; and draft and interpret bar graphs.
- Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, instruct others; train personnel; read, analyze, and interpret documents and professional journals; understand procedures; write reports, correspondence, and procedures; and speak and communicate clearly with customers and employees.
- Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
- Ability to work with limited supervision while performing duties.
- A current, non-suspended driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage as governed by Bank policy are required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities, as well as the ability and willingness to travel between Bank and branch locations, during the day, overnight, and in and out of state as required.
