Overview
We are looking for an experienced Dental Receptionist to join our busy and growing dental practice. This is a key position for someone who is professional, organized, friendly, and passionate about providing outstanding patient care.
As the first point of contact for our patients, you will be responsible for managing front office operations, scheduling appointments, answering phones, verifying insurance, coordinating treatment plans, collecting payments, and ensuring a smooth patient experience from check-in to check-out.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and handle all front desk interactions with professionalism and enthusiasm
- Schedule appointments accurately using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verifications efficiently
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including updating medical records and collecting necessary documentation
- Process payments, perform medical collections, and handle billing tasks using Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth systems
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper coding standards such as CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9 codes
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette; schedule appointments and respond to patient inquiries promptly
- Assist with intake procedures, medical administrative support, and coordinating care plans when needed
- Support office management tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and managing electronic health records (EHR systems like eClinicalWorks)
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical or Dental Receptionist with clinic or dental office experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and insurance billing processes
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Meditech, Epic or Athenahealth is highly desirable
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and office management software
- Ability to handle medical collection processes effectively while maintaining a positive attitude
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly in bilingual settings is a plus
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and filing procedures
- Previous hospital or clinic experience is advantageous; familiarity with medical terminology and health information management is essential
