Job Posting: Network Technician (NOC) – NASA MAOF
Location: NASA Marshal Space (MSFC), Huntsville, AL Shift: Full-Time on site, 12-Hour Rotating Shifts (24/7 Coverage)
The Role
Join the Altech Solutions team at the heart of NASA’s mission communications. As a Network Technician at the NASA MAOF - Mission Operation Center you will be responsible for the secure, reliable flow of mission-critical data for space and aeronautical operations. This is a high-impact, hands-on role requiring technical precision and a commitment to mission success.
Compensation & Federal Compliance (SCA/WD)
This position is governed by the Service Contract Act (SCA) Wage Determination (WD).

Base Hourly Rate: $31.45/hour.

Health & Welfare (H&W): $5.09/hour added to the base rate.

Note: Per SCA guidelines, this H&W adder is provided for you to purchase benefits through the company or on the open market. If you are already covered (e.g., via a spouse or as a Veteran with TRICARE/VA benefits), this $4.93/hour is added directly to your gross salary.

Shift Differential: In accordance with Alabama labor law and the 12-hour shift structure, additional pay is applied for night and weekend rotations to ensure competitive take-home pay for non-standard hours.

Key Responsibilities

Mission Monitoring: Use tools such as NNMi, MRTG, and CACTI to monitor NASA’s mission network health.

Tier 1/2 Support: Troubleshoot and maintain routers, switches, and telecom equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Ciena).

Cisco CLI Operations: Perform real-time configuration and diagnostic tasks via the Cisco Command Line Interface.

Incident Response: Coordinate with NASA centers to resolve dataflow issues under tight deadlines.

Shift Work: Maintain continuous network availability via 12-hour rotating shifts.
Qualifications
Required:

Security: Must hold an Active Public Trust Clearance (US Citizenship Required).

Technical: Working knowledge of TCP/IP, subnetting, and WAN connectivity.

Hands-on: Experience with Cisco/Juniper hardware and troubleshooting tools (traceroute, ping, SNMP).

CLI Proficiency: Ability to navigate and execute commands within the Cisco CLI environment.

Operational Composure: Ability to work under pressure in real-time mission settings.
Preferred:

Experience with SONET, MPLS, or T1/T3 links.

Familiarity with Linux systems and serial interfaces (RS232, V.35).

Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIA.
