Full-Time Veterinary Technician/Assistant
Forest Hill Animal Hospital is seeking a responsible and outgoing individual who loves working with dogs and cats to join our technician team.
Job Description:
- Prep and assist in diagnostic, medical, and surgical procedures.
- Perform laboratory tests and radiographs.
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment such as IV pumps, EKG, scales, laboratory machines, and anesthetic monitors.
- Assist the veterinarian in anesthetizing animals and monitoring them during surgeries.
- Properly restrain and handle animals of all sizes and temperaments.
- Fill prescriptions and administer medications.
- Perform venipuncture (cephalic and jugular) and place IV and urinary catheters.
- Interact with clients and animals while collecting medical information.
- Maintain cleanliness in exam rooms and cages after each patient.
- Ensure a clean and sanitary surgery area and equipment.
- Approach job duties in a mature, professional manner.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to handle animals of all sizes and temperaments in a calm and professional manner.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and stand on your feet for extended periods (10-hour shifts) in a labor-intensive environment.
- Strong work ethic, dependability, patience, and effective communication skills.
- Availability to work weekends and holidays (no exceptions).
- Degree or certification is not required; work experience preferred but not required (we will train).
- Must be 18 years or older.
