Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using appropriate techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks.
- Support medication administration under the supervision of nursing staff, adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques to maintain patient safety.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care strategies and behavioral health management.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy (blood draws), and wound care while maintaining infection control standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care environments like ICU, emergency medicine, or Level I trauma centers to deliver high-quality patient service.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety by observing changes in condition, reporting concerns promptly, and supporting discharge planning in post-acute or outpatient settings.
Qualifications
- Valid CNA certification with current licensure in the state of practice.
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care settings.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS).
- Prior experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs.
- Strong communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting with Hoyer lifts and assisting patients with mobility challenges.
