McLaurin Behavioral Health is a growing behavioral health organization committed to providing quality care and support services to individuals and families in our community. We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our corporate office team in Toledo, Ohio.
Position Summary
The Medical Biller is a part-time position responsible for the accurate and timely billing of services, document scanning, entering new participants into our billing system, and maintaining organized records in support of our clinical and administrative operations. This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three days per week in our corporate office (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday). The ideal candidate is highly professional and may be asked to communicate with clients, families, employees, independent contractors, and government agencies on behalf of McLaurin Behavioral Health.
Responsibilities
- Submit and follow up on claims accurately and on time
- Review and resolve billing errors and denials
- Verify health insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility to facilitate smooth billing processes
- Scan and organize clinical and administrative documents
- Enter new participants into the billing system
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, patient accounts, and correspondence
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure documentation supports billing and coding accuracy
- Stay current with changes in Medicaid billing requirements, medical terminology, and coding updates to ensure compliance
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience required; Medicaid billing experience strongly preferred
- Experience in behavioral health billing is a plus
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding procedures (CPT, ICD-9/10)
- Proficiency with medical billing software and EMR/EHR systems
- Knowledge of health insurance policies, benefits verification, and patient account management
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
