Position Summary
The Recreational Activity Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and facilitating engaging recreational and social activities for individuals living in a congregate residential setting. The role focuses on promoting socialization, community integration, skill development, independence, and overall quality of life in alignment with person-centered planning goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and implement a monthly activity calendar that reflects residents’ interests, abilities, and goals.
- Facilitate group and individual recreational activities, including arts and crafts, fitness, games, music, educational workshops, and community outings.
- Encourage participation while respecting individual choice and autonomy.
- Support residents in developing social, communication, and daily living skills through structured recreational programming.
- Coordinate transportation and logistics for community-based activities and events.
- Ensure activities are inclusive, adaptive, and accessible to individuals with varying physical, cognitive, and behavioral needs.
- Maintain a safe environment during all activities and outings, following agency policies and safety protocols.
- Document participation, progress notes, and any incidents in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with residential staff, clinical teams, and families to align activities with individualized service plans (ISPs).
- Monitor and manage activity supplies and equipment; submit purchase requests as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Human Services, or related field preferred.
- Experience working with individuals in a congregate residential setting (e.g., developmental disabilities, mental health, or aging populations) preferred.
- Knowledge of person-centered planning principles.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead group activities and motivate participation.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid driver’s license (if community outings are required).

Work Environment

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 per hour
