Duties
- Safely operate delivery vehicles such as box trucks or personal vehicles, adhering strictly to traffic regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Load, unload, and secure packages using manual handling techniques and material handling equipment like pallet jacks or forklifts when necessary
- Plan efficient delivery routes using mobile devices to maximize productivity and minimize delays
- Load packages onto your vehicle with proper manual lifting practices to prevent injury and ensure safe handling of heavy or bulky items
- Deliver parcels directly to customers’ homes or businesses with professionalism, courtesy, and excellent customer service skills
- Maintain accurate delivery records, obtain signatures when required, and handle any delivery discrepancies promptly
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to ensure safety standards are met and report any maintenance issues
Experience
- Prior warehouse experience or experience in delivery driving is highly desirable
- Proven ability in commercial driving, including operating box trucks or commercial trucks
- Experience with personal vehicle delivery or courier services is a plus
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, traffic laws, and safe lifting practices in a workplace environment
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients
- Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type being operated; clean driving record required
