Estimator — High-End Architectural Metal Fabrication
CMI · On-site [City, State] · $75,000–$95,000 (DOE)
CMI fabricates high-end architectural and ornamental metalwork. We've grown fast, we've got a strong backlog, and estimating has become the bottleneck sitting on the owner's desk. We're hiring an experienced estimator to own bid takeoffs and pricing — and to produce estimates profitable enough that they go out the door without being second-guessed.
What you'll do
- Read shop drawings and architectural plans and produce accurate material and labor takeoffs
- Price custom and ornamental metal fabrication jobs — stairs, railings, feature and structural work
- Build bids that protect margin, not just win work
- Work on-site with the owner and shop drawings team, tightening estimates against what the shop actually produces
What you need
- Real experience estimating metal fabrication — ideally architectural, ornamental, or custom, not just structural/commercial
- The ability to look at a drawing and know what it costs to build
- Comfort owning the number. We need estimates we can stand behind and send.
- On-site, full-time, at our shop. This role is not remote — you'll be close to the work and the numbers.
Why this role
You'd be the first dedicated estimator here — you own the function, you're not buried under a bidding department. Direct line to the owner. Your accuracy directly drives whether we bid right and build profitably.
To apply: send your experience with the types of metal fabrication you've estimated. Tell us about a job you priced and how the bid held up against actual cost.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
