Kennel Assistant / Dog Handler - 20 - 35 hours per week depending on the season.
We’re looking for an experienced, dependable, and physically active dog handler to join our team.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced, physically demanding job. You’ll spend much of your shift on your feet—walking and handling dogs, cleaning kennels and play areas, bending, lifting, carrying supplies, and working both indoors and outdoors.
Previous professional experience working with multiple dogs is REQUIRED. This is not an entry-level position.
Responsibilities
- Safely handle dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments
- Supervise multiple dogs and recognize changes in behavior or body language
- Feed, provide medications as directed, and monitor dogs in our care
- Walk dogs and supervise active indoor and outdoor play
- Clean and sanitize kennels, play areas, equipment, and common spaces
- Assist with bathing and general dog care
- Lift and move dogs, food, supplies, and equipment as needed
- Follow established safety, sanitation, and animal-handling protocols
Requirements
- Previous professional dog-handling experience is a MUST
- Experience working with multiple dogs at the same time
- Strong understanding of canine behavior and safe handling techniques
- Comfortable handling large, strong, energetic, or challenging dogs
- Physically able to remain active throughout the entire shift
- Able to lift 50+ pounds
- Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Dependable, observant, safety-conscious, and able to work as part of a team
