Crop Control & Trial Officer
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Crop Control & Trial Officer to join our growing team. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal crop health and development through proactive monitoring of climate conditions, nutrition, pests, and diseases. The position also leads trials of new techniques, plant varieties, and resources to continuously improve cultivation practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular scouting of greenhouse crops to identify pests, diseases, and overall plant health conditions
- Develop and implement preventative and corrective action plans for pest and disease management
- Monitor and measure EC and pH levels; identify and report deviations, especially during trials outside standard parameters
- Support the development of growing procedures for new crops and innovative cultivation techniques
- Maintain accurate records of growing practices, trial results, and production data to identify trends and support forecasting
- Stay current on industry best practices, technologies, and advancements in horticulture and crop management
- Assist the Head Grower with daily operations and perform additional duties as assigned
- Uphold company standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Plant Science, Horticulture, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
- Strong numerical skills, including the ability to calculate proportions, percentages, and volumes for fertilizers, chemicals, and irrigation applications
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience collecting and interpreting data from trials
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and builds strong working relationships
- Hands-on approach with willingness to work in greenhouse conditions
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
