Duties
- Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards across subjects such as literacy, math, physical education, music therapy, and recreational therapy.
- Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students with developmental disabilities, autism, visual impairments, or other special needs.
- Utilize educational technology and learning tools to enhance instruction and engagement.
- Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management strategies for students with diverse needs.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, specialists (speech therapists, behavioral therapists), and support staff to ensure cohesive instructional approaches.
- Assess student performance through standardized testing, formative assessments, and observational data to inform instruction.
- Adapt instructional methods to meet the needs of students with disabilities or unique learning styles.
- Incorporate therapeutic techniques such as applied behavior analysis (ABA), behavioral therapy, or music therapy when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and compliance with educational regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field; advanced certifications in special education preferred.
- Proven experience teaching children or students with developmental disabilities or autism.
- Strong knowledge of special education law, IEP development, instructional modifications, and educational compliance standards.
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques for diverse learners.
- Experience working with visually impaired or hearing-impaired students is a plus.
- Proficiency in integrating educational technology and learning tools into lesson planning.
- Excellent communication skills for effective parent engagement and team collaboration.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies for early childhood education, preschool settings, or toddler care environments.
- Knowledge of behavioral health practices and behavioral health interventions.
- Passion for fostering inclusive learning environments that support child welfare and development.
